TORN — price, funding and open interest

What this is
Private transfersThe governance token of Tornado Cash — an Ethereum mixer that breaks the link between sender and receiver: coins go into a common pool and exit to a fresh address with no visible thread between them. In 2022 OFAC put the protocol on the US sanctions list — the first time sanctions targeted code rather than people; a developer was arrested and the token collapsed. In 2025 a court struck the sanctions down, ruling that immutable smart contracts are not the "property" of a sanctioned party, and TORN got a second life. Holders vote on protocol parameters and treasury spending. The asset remains legally sensitive: exchanges list it with caution.

What the data shows
TORN trades at 6.2874. Over 365 days it ranged between 4.4236 and 21.44; the price now sits in the lower third of that range — 11% of the way from the yearly low to the high.
The daily range is 14.8% and five-minute NATR is 2.54%. That range is in the 89th percentile for the year — an unusually wide day.
Over the day +0.29%, over the hour 0.00%, over the last five minutes -0.01% — the move has only just started.
The instrument lives on a single venue (HTX). Liquidity sits in one book, so slippage here is more noticeable than on coins listed across several exchanges.
24-hour turnover is $1.1M — the 31th percentile for the year: a normal level of activity for it.
TORN correlation with Bitcoin over 24 hours is -0.27 — it goes its own way, barely looking at Bitcoin.
By turnover it ranks 929 of 1928 instruments in the screener.
By daily range it ranks 259 of 1928.
NATR is 0.78% on the minute and 7.40% on the hour — the move is even, without sharp excursions inside the hour.

How to read this
- Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. A positive rate means longs pay shorts: the market is crowded long.
- The rate rank shows how unusual that rate is for this particular coin: 97 means above 97% of the last month, a rare skew. Without the rank the bare number says nothing — every coin has its own normal.
- Open interest is the money sitting in positions that are still open. Rising alongside price means new money entering; rising while price falls means shorts building up.
- The OI rank is measured in contracts rather than dollars: otherwise it would drift up with price alone and claim a record where nothing changed.
- NATR shows how much a coin moves relative to its own price. High NATR with high turnover is where today's action is.
